Bill and Roberta Hilgendorf came to Alaska in 2015 from Wisconsin. They are both retired Lutheran school teachers, graduates of Concordia in Seward NE. Bill taught elementary grades 32 years. Roberta was a music teacher and organist, choir director and piano teacher. Bill took additional training to be a lay minister from Concordia, Mequon WI 10 years ago. They have been active in short term missions since 1996, and felt God calling them to a longer term position once they retired. Bill
completed his Licensed Lay Deacon training December of 2015. He is serving as deacon at Sterling Lutheran and Cooper Landing Community Church. Both churches now have an after school program one day a week with 8-10 children each. During the winter Bill is serving at Cooper landing once a month. Roberta helps plan the service music and does the accompanying. They recently bought a home in Sterling. They have 2 children, and are the grandparents of 5, all back in Wisconsin.
