We are looking for a long-term volunteer (one year to a lifetime) to serve a small group of believers in Cooper Landing, Alaska.  The volunteer would have to raise their own support but the place is beautiful and there are many opportunities for outreach.  This would be great for a retired person.  We are willing to train the person and give support.  Please contact Todd Roeske (907-259-5115   This email address is being protected from spambots. Need for Word and Sacrament Ministry Volunteer  in Alaska

What:  Alaska Mission for Christ is looking for a volunteer Pastor or Lay Minister to serve two small congregations (Cooper Landing and Sterling) on the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. 

Length of service:  3 months or longer.  We would love to have someone who would be willing to stay for several years.

Qualifications: 

  1. 1.A committed Christian with a heart to serve God's people and to witness to the love of Jesus in a remote but beautiful area of Alaska.
  2. 2.An LCMS pastor, Licensed Deacon, or someone willing to be trained to become a Licensed Deacon or pastor.
  3. 3.Possessing the following gifts: 
    1. a.A man of Faith, Prayer & Dedication to God’s Word
    2. b.Excellent relationship building skills
    3. c.Effective Communicator
    4. d.A Servant Leader who is a self starter
    5. e.A man who is above reproach (1 Timothy 3:1-14)
    6. 5.Ability to either support oneself or raise one's own support for theThe two congregations will contribute toward some expenses and may be able to supply or help with housing. 
    7. 6.An understanding of the unique context of mission in Alaska where most people do not come from a Lutheran
    8. 7.Good physical and mental
  1. Willing to live in the ministry area.
